FSHS holds off O-East
Olathe ? Nick Hassig broke a tie with an RBI single up the middle in the sixth inning, and the Free State baseball team held on for a 4-3 victory over Olathe East on Thursday night.
After picking up a save two days earlier, Ryan Scott took the win in relief. He struck out eight and walked just one in 42/3 innings.
Rob Wagner started, allowing just one run and two hits in his 21/3 innings.
Adam Petz led Free State’s offense, going 2-for-3.
“We scratched and clawed offensively to get runs across,” Free State coach Mike Hill said. “We were opportunistic and disciplined and made adjustments to be successful. That was a quality win on the road against a talented team, and I’m very proud of our kids.”
