Baldwin City to put on Forestry Field Day

Kansas State University and the Kansas Forest Service will be host to Fall Forestry Field Day Oct. 16 in Baldwin City.

Greg Ellis’ 80-acre tree farm, two miles west of Baldwin City, will be featured during the field day.

Ellis, host of the field day, has worked with several natural resource experts on restoring his land and harvesting timber. During the field day, three to four acres will be planted at the tree farm.

Outdoor educational sessions will also be taught covering topics such as tree identification and the top 10 tree diseases of forest landowners.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until 3:30 p.m. The farm is 2 miles west of U.S. Highway 56 on East 1500 Road.

A catered lunch will be provided for a $10 registration fee.

Register by Thursday by sending a registration form and money to Kansas Forest Service: 2610 Claflin Road, Manhattan, KS 66502.
