Commercial broker is Community Cornerstone

Marilyn Bittenbender, senior vice president and principal for Grubb & Ellis|The Winbury Group, Lawrence, is winner of CornerBank’s Community Cornerstone award for February.

The public is invited to attend a reception for Bittenbender at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the bank, 4621 W. Sixth St. The bank will donate $100 on Bittenbender’s behalf to the Cottonwood Foundation.

The awards program recognizes volunteers whose efforts help build strong communities.

Bittenbender is a member of the Cottonwood Board of Trustees, serving as secretary. In 2006, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius appointed her to the Kansas Real Estate Commission.

Bittenbender has served as chairwoman for both the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Governors at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center. She also has been past president and fund drive chairwoman for the United Way of Douglas County.
