Two Share JGC Title: Bob Kocour and Brent Mertz each carded a 65 to share first place in Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club weekly net tournament at Alvamar. Randy Gebhards was third with a 66. Ed Scholtes and Drew Walters had 68s, Tom Dennis and Drew Walters 69s and Chris Small and Jay Patterson 71s. Mertz also had the low gross score, a three-under par 69.

¢LTC Qualifiers: Demarko Bobo, Monica Howard, Blake Hocking, Kristina Taylor and Jennifer Taylor of the Lawrence Track Club won individual gold medals at the Kansas AAU track championships June 8-9 in Manhattan. Bobo and Kristina Taylor also earned silver medals. Bronze medals went to Krista Costa, Nick Hocking, Alison Howard, Nicolas Shump and Jennifer Taylor. Fourth places were earned by Parker Davies, Alison Howard, Monica Howard and Bobo. The top four finishers qualified for this weekend’s Missouri Valley AAU meet in Topeka.

¢Green Hole-in-One: Robert Green used an 8-iron to ace the 142-yard No. 11 hole Sunday at Lawrence Country Club. Witness was Joseph Runtner.

¢City Golf Deadline: Early entry deadline is Friday for the city golf championships on June 30 at Eagle Bend and July 1 at Alvamar. Fees for the men’s, women’s, senior and super senior divisions will climb from $100 to $150 on Saturday. Anyone who lives or works in Douglas County or belongs to a city golf club is eligible.
