Man admits to stabbing, faces life in prison

? A man accused of killing a woman selling him drugs pleaded guilty to first-degree murder on Wednesday.

David Meggers, 27, admitted in Reno County District Court to fatally stabbing Bonnie Galloway, 36, on Jan. 27.

Meggers faces life without parole when he is sentenced April 25.

Officials said Meggers went to Galloway’s house in South Hutchinson to buy cocaine and methamphetamine, but decided to kill her after concluding the meth he was buying was not real.

Deputy Reno County Dist. Atty. Thomas Stanton said Meggers also believed Galloway had become a police informant after her arrest last year on felony drug charges. She was granted a routine continuance in her case, and Stanton said Meggers misinterpreted the delay.

Officials said Meggers also confessed to killing people in three other states, although the Kansas Bureau of Investigation has not turned up evidence to substantiate those claims.
