Lawrence bank earns volunteer honor

The Kansas Volunteer Commission has given the “You Make a Difference” award in the business category to Central National Bank in Lawrence, honoring its employees for outstanding volunteer service to the Lawrence community.

The commission will present a $1,000 check to Roger Hill Volunteer Center in honor of Central National Bank’s volunteerism at 3 p.m. today at the bank’s downtown branch, Eighth and Massachusetts streets.

In 2005, bank employees contributed more than 4,000 hours of voluntary service on behalf of more than 40 community not-for-profit agencies and schools in Douglas County.

Junction City-based Central National Bank has six branches in Lawrence.
