¢ Roberts Tourney Champ: Conrad Roberts recorded a 69-70-139 to win the Jayhawk Golf Club two-day stroke-play tournament over the weekend at Alvamar. Bud Stagg was listed as runner-up with 74-75-149. Chris Anderson and Todd Chapple each shot 150. Scot Buxton and Van Reichert came in at 152 apiece. In net scoring, Gary Stella and Tony Linville were co-champions at 138. Mike Stein shot 140. Dave Davison and Duane Dickson came in at 142. At 143 were Randy Gebhards, Charles Pauls and Tom Taylor.

¢ Boeck Age-Group Winner: Dee Boeck of Lawrence won the women’s ages 50-plus division of the Quivira Mile Race in Overland Park. Wally Brawner of Tonganoxie was second in the men’s 50-plus category. Lawrence’s D.J. Hilding was fourth in the men’s ages 20-34 group.

¢ Goodwin Seventh: Lawrence’s Brandon Goodwin finished seventh in the Greco-Roman division of the National Junior Wrestling Championships in Fargo, N.D.

¢ Orchards Hole-in-One: Tony Tacono used a 3-iron to ace the par-four 240-yard No. 3 hole last week at the Orchards Golf Course. Witnesses were Ray Freels, Don Daniels and J.R. Alofipo.

¢ Rowing Standouts: John Swinford of Lawrence was a national finalist in the U.S. Rowing championships last month and Indianapolis. Also, Jenny Schaetzel, a Kansas University freshman, earned a bronze medal in the women’s elite singles dash. Swinford and Schaetzel compete for Topeka Rowing.

¢ Baseball Tryouts: Lawrence Detonators U-11 baseball will hold tryouts for next season at 9 a.m. Saturday at Holcom Complex gold diamond. For information, e-mail Steve Walter at ksdetonators@yahoo.com.

¢ Quantrill Fun Run: Quantrill’s Raid Fun Run for History 10K will be Saturday. The run will start in South Park and go through seven sites of significance during Quantrill’s 1863 attack on Lawrence. For information, call the sponsoring Watkins Museum at 841-4109.
