Lawrence Police said Monday that during the weekend they handled:
- 846 calls
- 100 reports
- 13 burglaries
- six thefts
- 13 noninjury accidents
- three injury accidents
Burglaries and thefts reported
- A 19-year-old Kansas University student reported a Beretta shotgun valued at $1,800 stolen from his Chevrolet Tahoe between 11 p.m. Thursday and 12:59 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Stewart Avenue. The vehicle’s rear window was broken, according to a report.
- Someone took a remote-control box and 12-volt battery valued at a total of $5,100 from a roadwork site along U.S. Highway 40 near Lecompton. The items belonged to a rental company in Topeka and an engineering company that was laying asphalt on the highway. The incident occurred between 6 p.m. April 23 and 7 a.m. April 26.
- A 46-year-old Lawrence woman reported her car window broken and items stolen from inside, including a $4,000 diamond ring, an $800 digital camera and $1,000 in skin cream. The theft happened between 2 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Saturday in the 3400 block of Aldrich Street.
