Geraldine E. Coffman

Services for Geraldine E. Coffman, 86, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, northwest of Centropolis.

Mrs. Coffman died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 22, 1917, in Centropolis, the daughter of Homer and Hazel Shadle Crawford. She attended school at Brubaker Rural School and graduated from Overbrook Rural High School in 1936. She also attended Emporia State Teachers College.

Mrs. Coffman was a homemaker. She was active in the Eugene Field Elementary School PTA in Ottawa, Rambling Ranchers 4-H Club, Rotary Anns and Sequel Club. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sunshine Sunday School Class, and she completed Florence Menninger Bible Class. She was a Paul Harris Fellow, sexton of Union Cemetery, and a member of United Cemetery Board for many years. Her family farm in Douglas County was awarded Century Farm Award from Farm Bureau.

She married Floyd H. Coffman on Jan. 11, 1942, in Overbrook. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Bruce C. Coffman, Silver Lake, H. Hurst Coffman, Topeka; two daughters, Martha J. Coffman, Lawrence, and Geraldine A. Coffman, Overbrook; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
