Norman O. Walrafen

? Services for Norman O. Walrafen, 83, Meriden, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meriden United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Meriden Cemetery.

Mr. Walrafen died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Deer Park Senior Group Home in Meriden.

He was born May 9, 1921, in Stafford, the son of Loren Wesley and Millie Odessa Hering Walrafen. He graduated from Emporia High School in 1939 and attended Emporia State University for two years. He moved in 1989 from Emporia to Meriden.

Mr. Walrafen retired after 30 years as a general contractor in new home construction and grain elevators. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II.

He married Mary Irene Ray on Oct. 28, 1939, in Nebraska. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Verne, Ozawkie; a daughter, Juanita Kay Shipley, Blaine, Wash.; a brother, Donald Eugene, Victoria, British Columbia; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Barnett’s Meriden Funeral Chapel.
