How they scored

First Quarter

8:04 — Clark Green 12 run. The Jayhawks rolled downfield on their second possession, a seven-play, 56-yard drive with both passing and rushing. The drive was fueled by Green, who had three rushes for 25 yards and caught a pass for a first down. On his last run, he bolted through a thin seam, then bulled over a defender while diving into the end zone. Scott Webb kick. (Kansas 7, Missouri 0).

Second Quarter

9:56 — Brandon Rideau 8 pass from Brian Luke. KU’s quarterback orchestrated a 12-play, 82-yard drive brilliantly, completing all six of his passes for 66 yards during the series. Three of his completions were to tight end Lyonel Anderson for 30 yards, but the last was a slant route by Rideau that was caught at the goal line. Scott Webb kick. (Kansas 14, Missouri 0).

3:42 — Austine Nwabuisi 1 run. KU relied on the run the next time it got the ball, rushing six of its eight plays in the 54-yard drive. The key play, though, was a 24-yard completion from Luke to Rideau, which was lengthened by a nifty spin move that nearly allowed him to score. Two plays later, Nwabuisi bulled in for the touchdown. (Kansas 21, Missouri 0).

Third Quarter

11:13 — Anderson 30 pass from Luke. KU once again marched downfield, picking up 80 yards on 11 plays, most of them passes. The Jayhawks converted all three of their third downs, all by pinpoint passes from Luke. The last, on third and nine, was a completion to a wide-open Anderson, who rumbled into the end zone untouched. Webb kick. (Kansas 28, Missouri 0).

Fourth Quarter

12:36 — Sean Coffey 34 pass from Brad Smith. Luke threw his only interception of the day, and Missouri took over at KU’s 34-yard line. On the first play, Smith found Coffey a step past his defender on the right side, and nailed a strike for the score. Brad Ekwerekwu’s end-around pass fell incomplete for the failed two-point conversion. (Kansas 28, Missouri 6).

11:10 — Coffey 11 pass from Smith. A 46-yard completion from Smith to William Franklin put the Tigers back in striking distance almost immediately after taking possession. The third play of the drive was a shovel pass to Coffey, who wove through defenders and into the end zone. Nash run for two-point conversion. (Kansas 28, Missouri 14).

1:51 — Johnny Beck 35 field goal. A Charles Gordon interception was returned 23 yards into Mizzou territory, and seven KU plays — mostly runs — put the Jayhawks in field-goal range. Beck’s last boot as a Jayhawk was a successful one. (Kansas 31, Missouri 14).
