LHS softball splits twinbill with Olathe North
Olathe ? Lawrence High’s softball team blanked Olathe North, 1-0, in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday at the Olathe District Activities Center.
The Lions fell 2-0 in the first game — the continuation of a game delayed after four innings earlier this season.
Whitney Juneau struck out five and allowed four hits in the victory. She also had the game-winning single, plating Whitney Huff, who doubled, in the seventh.
Amy Bullerman had the Lions’ only hit in the opener.
“It’s a big win for us,” LHS coach Reenie Stogsdill said. “Olathe North is one of the big teams in the league. To beat them tonight in a clean game, it’s what we needed. We started the season 1-7. Now we’re 10-10 heading into regionals. We’ve come a long way.”
LHS today will find out its regional softball assignment. O-North is 14-6.
