John and Emily Ogden, Highlands Ranch, Colo., announce the birth of a daughter, Elizabeth Joyce Ogden, born March 12, 2003, at Swedish Medical Center in Denver. Grandparents are Don and Alice Johnston and Harold Ogden, all of Lawrence, and the late Joyce Ogden.

Jennifer and Daniel Coates, Ottawa, announce the birth of a daughter, Riley Rae Coates, born Feb. 25, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She has a sister, Britten, 2.

Grandparents are Jerry and Paula Moore and Charlene Coates, all of Baldwin. Great-grandparents are Myra and Bob Howell, Ottawa, and Nadine Moore, Tonganoxie.

Kristen Byington, a senior at Lawrence High School, has been awarded the Bethel Scholar academic scholarship for the 2003-2004 academic year from Bethel College, North Newton. Her parents are Ross and Jeanette Byington, Lawrence.

Kristi McCue Bradley, Lawrence, has been elected province director of chapters for Kappa Kappa Gamma. She will work with collegiate chapters of Kappa Kappa Gamma and their respective alumna advisory and house boards. Bradley most recently served Kappa Kappa Gamma as chapter council adviser to the Kansas University chapter.

Mary Combest, senior at Lawrence High School, was a 2003 candidate for the Presidential and Provost Scholarship competition at Ottawa University.

Students are selected based on their outstanding academic merit and extracurricular involvement. The competition consists of an essay contest and interviews.
