Area Roundup: Ottawa hands KC Sumner rare league loss

? Driven by the 56 combined points of Lee Baldwin and Ross Thompson, Ottawa upended Kansas City Sumner 78-61 Friday night.

Baldwin scored 16 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter, hitting 12 of 14 free throws to ice the win.

“That was huge,” Ottawa coach David Grover said.

Thompson scored all 27 of his points in the first three quarters for Ottawa (14-2, 4-0 Huron League) play) Sumner fell to 12-4, 3-1.

“For eight straight years (Sumner) won our league, so its a big step,” Grover said, “but we’re only half way there.

Ottawa will play host to KC Turner on Friday.

“Pulling her out takes the only size we have off the floor,” Eudora coach Cara Kimberlin said.
