Dodder

George and Florence Dodder, Baldwin, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at a luncheon with family and friends June 2 at the Union Pacific Depot in Lawrence.

George Dodder and Florence Heim were married Feb. 12, 1942, at the home of her parents in Worden. They have lived in the Overbrook and Worden areas since they have been married.

The couple’s children are Cheryl Flory and Marleen Harris, both of Lawrence. They have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Hartman

Calvin and Nel Hartman, rural Lecompton, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner on June 1. The reception will be hosted by their children, Craig and Leslie Hartman, Altamont, and Curt and Margaret Hartman, Prairie Village; and their grandchildren, Caleb Hartman, Josh Hartman, Luke Hartman, Megan Hartman and Annie Hartman.

Calvin Hartman and Nellie Sherman Streib were married May 24, 1952, at the Bellevue United Methodist Church, Leona.

After Calvin’s graduation from The Evangelical Seminary, Naperville, Ill., they served United Methodist churches in the Kansas West Conference.

At retirement they built a home on land that was a part of the Hartman family farm.

Weeks

Robert and Doris Weeks, Lecompton, celebrated their 50th anniversary with a family dinner May 15 at the Topeka Steak House.

The couple’s children and grandchildren hosted a reception for them on May 19 in their Lecompton home.

They were married May 15, 1952, in Bentonville, Ark.

Their children are Rick and Debbie Weeks, and Marla and Tim Bailey, all of Oskaloosa. A daughter, Brenda, died in 1976.

The couple’s grandchildren are Wade and Megan Cottrell, Lawrence; Wes Cottrell and Jacob Cottrell, both of Perry; and Crystal Weeks, Cassie Weeks and Amber Weeks, Oskaloosa.

Robert retired in 1993. He was a self-employed builder. Doris retired in 1994 from Hallmark Cards in Lawrence, after 28 years of service.

Black

Freddie and Jean Black, Ottawa, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 2 at Ottawa High School.

They were married June 3, 1952, in Pleasanton. They graduated from Pleasanton High School. They farm and raise cattle in rural Ottawa.

Their children are Lyle and Cheryl Black, Ottawa, and Larry and Jeanne Black, Baldwin. They have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
