Eric Bloom: Bloom fills time with campaigning, sports

The person who nominated Eric Bloom as an eligible bachelor wonders why every girl doesn’t want to date him.

“Eric is a very good person,” the nominator wrote. “He genuinely cares about his friends more than himself.”

Eric Bloom, Eudora, enjoys jet skiing and boating with friends at Clinton Lake.

Bloom, 23, recently graduated from Kansas University with a degree in architectural engineering. He is taking some time off from work to campaign with his father, Dan Bloom, who is running for governor on the Republican ticket. Eric Bloom is his father’s pick for lieutenant governor.

Bloom also keeps busy building computers, running, playing softball and other sports, spending time with friends and even painting. He often creates paintings as gifts for friends and family members.

Bloom’s home ? he shares it with his brother Nathan, 21, and another man ? is quite the bachelor pad. Complete with a dart board, pool table, piano, big-screen television and hot tub, his residence is a favorite hangout of friends.

Still, Bloom insists he is a simple country boy.

“If I go on a date, I don’t mind going on a walk,” he said. “You can have so much fun just doing free things. I want to meet somebody who isn’t into money, like they’re not worried about me having a yellow Corvette. If you can find someone to have a heart-to-heart with, that’s what’s really important.”
