HCCI seeks funding assistance from city

Bottom Line

City commissioners will hear a request from Housing and Credit Counseling Inc. to receive $13,109 in funding from the city’s general fund.

Background

Officials with the nonprofit HCCI, which deals with landlord/tenant issues in the city, say the agency would have to cut back staff time, education programs, and perhaps give up office space if it does not receive the city funding.

The city’s Community Development Block Grant Program awarded HCCI $14,000 for the 2001-2002 fiscal year, but the city has not awarded the agency funding from the general fund since 1999.
