The Lawrence 299er Duplicate Bridge Club’s April 3 game was stratified, used the Howell movement and was directed by Don Brennaman.

The winners were Michael Green and Richard Willoughby, followed by Helen Huffman and Robert Huffman. Chuck Hedges and Yvonne Hedges placed third, followed by Judy Bevan and John Gilbert. Janet Williams and Don Brennaman placed fifth. Albert Ballard and Julie Ward placed second place in the C session.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club’s April 8 game was stratified, used the Mitchell movement and was directed by Virginia Seaver.

The North South winners were Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd, followed by Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough. James Gunn and Harry Shaffer placed third, followed by Chris Lane and Shirley Reese. Frances Vogel and Judy Bevan won the C session.

The East West winners were Jerry Sloan and Julia Brooks, followed by Cathy Blumenfeld and Michael Blumenfeld. John Hickey and Patt Radford tied for third place with Madelyn Jenks and Phyllis Brownlee.

The University Women’s Club met April 4 at the Kansas Union. During the meeting, two artists presented their paintings for the Malott Room, the club’s room in the Kansas Union. The artists are Paula Hauser Leffel and Colleen Zacharias Gregoire, both graduates of Kansas University’s School of Fine Arts. They are recognized for their participation in juried art shows as well as in solo exhibitions.

Also during the meeting, scholarship winners were introduced. They are Stephanie Bohling, Chelsea Cassell, Allyson Flaster, Marcie Harder and Felicia Mitchell.

The Welcome Club of Lawrence will meet at noon Thursday at the Eldridge Hotel, 701 Mass. The program will be about planning for a summer vacation. The menu is quiche, fruit and muffins. The cost is $10. To make reservations, call Kristi Plumb at 865-5701.
