Thanksgiving for many is about food and family (and watching football).

But there is more to the holiday than eating yourself into a food coma. It’s a time to remind ourselves about the great things in our lives. The things that we may take for granted because we get too busy or too distracted to realize how good we may have it.

So we want to hear why you’re thankful. In return, you could win your Thanksgiving turkey from us. Here’s how it works:

On Twitter

– If you’re on Twitter, tweet about what you’re thankful for and use the hashtag #ThankfulLawrence.
– Each tweet counts as a contest entry.
– You can enter multiple times.
– Deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22.

In the comments

– Leave a comment on this post telling us what you’re thankful for.
– Each comment counts as a contest entry.
– You can enter multiple times.
– Comments left on other stories or blog posts do not count as entries.

– One winner will be drawn at random
– The winner will be notified via PM, @mention or DM by 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23
– The winner must pick up their Turkey by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24 at the Lawrence Journal-World news center at 645 New Hampshire.
– You can enter if you don’t live in Lawrence. But if you win, you must be able to pick up your turkey in person by the pickup deadline.
– By submitting an entry, you agree to let us use your comment or tweet in print on Thanksgiving Day.
– World Company employees are not eligible to win.
