Recipe ideas for feeding a family on the cheap

Did you notice Wednesday’s Hy-Vee ad?  It said dinner for 4, less than $4.  The ad pictured Hy-Vee brand pasta, pasta sauce, garlic bread and packaged garden salad.  The total of these four products was $3.95.

This is great.  So it got me wondering.  What is the least amount you spent on a meal for your family?  I’m talking about a meal you prepared, not off a fast food dollar menu.

I posted a pasta and broccoli recipe recently that was simple and cheap and still nutritious.

It will be fun to see how creative your meals get on the cheap.
