Take your kids to the polls tomorrow

Kids Voting is awesome. It didn’t exist where I grew up and I was one of those kids that would have loved the chance to vote, even if it didn’t technically count. My parents didn’t exactly stress the importance of voting, but I definitely picked it up on my own and even loaded down my college schedule with political science classes. Here in Douglas County, children are lucky enough to have Kids Voting – so take them to the polls. Polls for kids grades kindergarten through 12 (and if you have a precocious prekindergartner, they can vote, too) will be open tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and then again after school from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.There is a catch – based on turnout in 2006, some of the polls for Kids Voting have been combined. They’ll also get to share their opinion on bond issue questions. High schoolers get to vote like the 18+ crowd. So, take your kids to vote. Results will be reported to the media and we’ll see how the kids stack up to the real deal. Are you taking your kid(s) to vote? Why or why not?
