November 23rd Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire Medical wrap up

At 11:48 p.m., Police and Fire Medical crews were dispatched on an injury accident at the intersection of 21st and Heatherwood in Lawrence. Dispatchers reported a subject on a moped struck a dog. There was no word on the seriousness of injuries involved.

Lawrence Police and Fire Medical crews were called to 2401 W 25th Street on a reported structure fire at 11:49 p.m.. Police arrived to report fire visible on the floor of a “common area.” Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. At least eight officers responded to the area. Several officers remained on scene with fire investigators until shortly after 2 a.m.. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with no indication regarding if this is possibly the latest in the recent string of suspicious fires in the same general area of Lawrence. No injuries were reported.

At 2 a.m., Police were called to the 900 block of Iowa Street to check on a report of gunshots heard in the area. One caller reported hearing five or six gunshots to the north of the area. That caller also reported hearing a “hissing” which he believed was from damaged tires on a tractor trailer that was parked nearby. There were no reports of any damage or injuries.

Officers were called to the 900 block of Illinois Street, just before 2:10, on what the caller believed to be someone attempting to break into her residence. Police arrived and reported that they believed the sounds to be nothing more than the wind.

Officers responded on several alarms, all of which were reported to be related to the gusty winds.

At 4:51 a.m., Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Ousdahl Road on reports of two subjects loitering around an apartment building. Officers attempted to contact the two subjects, when one of them decided to run. He was taken into custody a short time later and was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Officers were called to the 2400 block of Kensington Road just after 7 a.m., on a report of traffic sign damaged by a vehicle sometime overnight. There was no information regarding when the accident might have occurred or what vehicle may have been involved.

At 7:56 a.m., Police and Fire Medical crews were called to the intersection of 25th Street and Kasold Drive on an injury accident. Crews arrived to report two vehicles were involved. One person was treated for minor injuries.
