August 5th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Shortly after 2 a.m., Police received a report of two teenage males “14-17 years old” who were dressed in all black and acting suspicious behind a strip mall in the 1500 block of Wakarusa Drive. Officers arrived in the area and quickly spotted the two subjects not far away. Both subjects ran from the Officers, southbound on Carmel Drive. The officer reported losing sight of the subjects near the intersection of Carmel Drive and Carmel Court. As officers set up a perimeter to search for the subjects, one was approached by an employee of Brandon Woods, who informed officers that several residents reported people knocking on their windows around the same time. After a little more than an hour of searching, officers broke down the perimeter and returned to normal patrols.

While the search was underway in Lawrence, officers in Baldwin City were on the lookout for a male who was seen breaking into at least one vehicle and using a flashlight to look into other vehicles, in a neighborhood on the east side of town. Officers were quickly able to locate the man and he was taken into custody. He has been booked into the Douglas County Jail on four counts of Burglary to a Vehicle, and is currently being held on a $10,000 bond.

Lawrence Fire responded on a small grass fire in the 2000 block of Bluffs Drive at 3:45 a.m.. That fire was quickly extinguished.

Douglas County Deputies recorded an arrest for Driving While Suspended on eastbound K-10 between Lawrence and Eudora.

Lawrence Police conducted five vehicle stops and responded on at least four noise complaints.
