April 26th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Emergency crews in Lawrence were kept plenty busy early this morning.

Police and Fire/Medical were called to the 400 block of E 19th Street at 2:04 a.m., for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The vehicle was last seen leaving the scene of the accident headed westbound on E 19th Street. The victims injuries were said to be a minor elbow injury. Police said the victim was “too intoxicated” to provide a vehicle description. The victim was transported to LMH for further treatment.

Officers contacted a subject who was reportedly involved in a disturbance at a bar in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street just before 2:15 a.m.. Medics were also called to the scene and one person was transported to LMH. That person was said to possibly need a couple stitches.

Just after 2:15 a.m., Officers responded to a domestic disturbance just down the street in the 900 block of Massachusetts Street. Again, Medics were requested to respond for a subject with a bloody nose. No one was transported from this scene. The suspect was said to be a black male who fled, as a passenger, in a vehicle.

At 3:54 a.m., an Officer reported three subjects walking in the area ran from him when he approached them, in the area of E 28th Terrace and Ponderosa Drive. About two minutes later dispatchers received a report of a stolen vehicle in the 900 block of E 28th Street. That vehicle was described as a blue Toyota Camry and was last seen northbound on Haskell Avenue.

Officers were called to the 2700 block of Ponderosa drive just after 5 a.m. for recovered property. It was not immediately clear whether or not that was related to the earlier call in the same area.

Police responded on a few more disturbances and conducted a number of vehicle stops this morning as well. Two arrests were reported as a result of vehicle stops. County Deputies made the first arrest near the intersection of 6th and Eldridge at 3:30 a.m.. That driver was driving recklessly and also DWI. The second arrest was reported by Lawrence Police in the 2200 block of Iowa Street just before 4 a.m..
