October 27th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Just before 2 a.m. Lawrence Police were called to investigate a burglary in the 1100 block of Ohio Street. Police arrived to find a broken window and blood around the area. Just a few minutes after 2 a.m., KU Public Safety Officers arrived at one of the residence halls on campus after receiving an emergency call for a male with a bloody elbow. LDCFM responded and assessed that male’s injuries to be minor. LPD and KUPD were investigating to see if the two incidents were related. It was not clear if any arrests were made.

Eudora Police were involved in a brief car chase in the 2 a.m. hour this morning. An officer reported a vehicle eastbound on K-10 from Church Street, that vehicle failed to yield to the officer when he activated his emergency equipment. The officer followed the vehicle to where it reportedly exited and then crashed in a ditch near N 1400 Road. No injuries were reported and the two occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody for investigation.

Lawrence Police and LDCFM responded on a minor injury accident in the 800 block of Massachusetts Street around 3:15 a.m. One person was treated for minor injuries.

The rest of the night was fairly quite. A few noise complaints, vehicle stops and disturbances. No serious injuries were reported with any of the overnight activity and none of the activity involved the use of weapons.

Saturday, October 29th is the National Take Back day for unused, unwanted and expired prescription drugs. There are two locations in Douglas County, one in Lawrence and another in Eudora, that will be taking part. Find more information about the initiative here.

On Monday, KDOT announced that more construction is scheduled to start on Monday, October 31st on K-10. The work is being called “Emergency project.” Learn more about this project here.
