October 16th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police responded on a non injury accident in the 1100 block W 8th Street just after midnight.

Officers spent most of the night with the fairly normal overnight activity for Lawrence; noise complaints, disturbances and vehicle stops. Officers also checked on a report of fireworks around 1 a.m. in the 2300 block of W 26th Street.

A Douglas County Deputy had a very short pursuit with a vehicle eastbound on K-10. That vehicle stopped just after pulling into Johnson County. Johnson County Sheriff Deputies responded to assist the Deputy. The male driver was uncooperative with Law Enforcement and at one point started to become combative with Deputies. It sounded like the man was tased at one point. He was taken to a Kansas City area hospital by Johnson County Med-Act. Paramedics reported that the male patient was being uncooperative. His injuries were described as minor. Radio traffic indicated that at least two illegal narcotics were found in his vehicle and he was possibly under the influence of those drugs.

No serious injuries were reported with any of the early morning activity.

Today is also the Memorial Service at the 2011 National Fallen Firefighters Memorial. Events will be live streaming on Operation 100 News’ blogspot page. This mornings broadcast begins at 8:30 a.m., with the service beginning at 9 a.m. Six Kansas firefighters will be among the 72 memorialized this year.
