Former KU AD is Kansas Citian of the Year

¢ Drue Jennings, former interim athletic director at KU, has been named Kansas Citian of the Year by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, the Kansas City Star reports._Jennings is currently senior counsel at the law firm of Shughart Thomson & Kilroy. He grew up in the Argentine area of Kansas City, Kan., and attended the University of Kansas on a football scholarship, playing defensive back and punt returner. After briefly teaching and coaching at Wyandotte High School, he returned to Lawrence to get a law degree, entered private practice for two years and joined KCP&L in 1974._¢ Tamara Ransburg, a former Kansas University women’s basketball player now at Old Dominion, is featured in the Virginian-Pilot._Ransburg’s worst critic stares her down in the mirror. Coach Wendy Larry, on the other hand, is quick to remind: “Tay hasn’t played the game for two years.” Ransburg dismisses that. The East St. Louis, Ill., native grew up tough. She regularly got in trouble at school, held her own in street fights and watched as her sisters became moms as teenagers._¢ Randy Hunt, a former head pro at Alvamar County Club, has been named to the Professional Golf Assn. board of directors, according to PGA.com. Hunt currently lives in Lenexa._Hunt, 56, had served as general manager from 1999 to September 2006 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan. A 1972 graduate of Chadron State College in Chadron, Neb., Hunt began his professional career in 1985 as director golf and head professional at Alvamar Country Club in Lawrence, Kan. In 1988, he became director of golf at Overland Park (Kan.) Golf Club, and remained in that position until 1996. He served as general manager at Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Lenexa, Kan., from 1997-98, and was vice president of operations from April 1997 to September 1999 for Midwest Daily Free Public Courses for Kemper Sports Management of Northbrook, Ill._
