Naismith memorabilia headed to Canada

¢ A Canadian company that owns the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors bought 25 items in a recent auction of early basketball memorabilia owned by James Naismith, the Toronto Sun reports. Included in the lot was the whistle Naismith used while coaching at KU._MLSE has purchased this collection in support of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. Plans call for the items to be placed on display at Air Canada Centre, but will also be part of the Hall’s outreach program._¢ A Kansas University student, Jay Kimmel, is quoted in a Wall Street Journal story about college students studying abroad and off the beaten path.
