Members of the Kansas Board of Regents expressed concerns about housing rates, as the board considered university requests to raise student rates.Some members of the board objected to the rates, saying they were above inflationary rates.Regent Gary Sherrer said the passage of the rate increases would be passed directly to students and their families in tough economic times.”This is a proposal that’s sort of business as usual,” he said. “I just don’t think it makes any acknowledgement whatsoever that these are unusual times.”He and Regents Chairwoman Donna Shank voted against KU’s proposed rate increases, but the board passed it over their objections.
