KU campus, Jayhawk Blvd. restrictions announced

While Kansas University is inviting fans to Allen Fieldhouse to watch tonight’s game against the University of Memphis for the national title game, KU is making preparations for how to handle potential crowds.In a statement e-mailed to media this afternoon, the university announced parking on Jayhawk Boulevard and behind Strong and Bailey halls would be prohibited after 5:30 p.m. The university also will lock all buildings – except libraries – on the main campus at 7 p.m.Libraries, including the law library, will close at 10 p.m. In order to accommodate the game, Tim Flannery’s climate change lecture has been moved to 6:30 p.m.Details for events on Tuesday – including a welcome back event for the team – will be announced after the game. An announcement on whether to have classes tomorrow also is expected to be made then.
