Ali Kemp Foundation brings self-defense classes to KU

Three Kansas University greek chapters are helping to bring self-defense classes to the Kansas University campus Sept. 12.The classes honor Ali Kemp, a former Kansas State student from Leawood who was killed at a swimming pool in June of 2002. Ever since her death, friends and family have been offering women’s self-defense classes, in an effort to make sure other women do not become victims.The classes, which will be held at Robinson Gym, will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration is available onsite or at the TAKE Defense Web site.KU is the first of several stops for the TAKE Defense group’s training sessions. Throughout the fall and summer, the group will visit other schools. The TAKE Defense group is an outgrowth of The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation.Sponsoring greek chapters at KU include Pi Beta Phi, Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Phi Epsilon.
