If you’re looking to keep your student active on early-release Wednesdays over the winter, the Prairie Park Nature Center has an option to consider.

The nature center’s after-school program, Nature Nuts, is set to begin this week. Nature Nuts: Afterschool Explorations and Crafts will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 6, Jan. 20, Feb. 3 and Feb. 17 at the nature center, 2730 Harper St.

The program is open to kids ages 7 to 12, and sign-up is done per session. The cost is $5 per participant per session and pre-registration is required.

Each session will feature new plants, animals and aspects of nature, and kids should come prepared to go outdoors. Participants will also take part in arts and crafts projects.
