‘Coffee with a Cop’ that was snowed out has been rescheduled for March 30

The Lawrence Police Department’s recently snowed-out “Coffee with a Cop” event has been rescheduled for the end of this month.

The public is invited to mingle with officers from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 30 at McDonald’s, 1309 W. Sixth St.
The department is billing the drop-in event as “an opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the officers in your community.”

Police had planned to greet residents in late February, but that event was cancelled at the last minute due to icy weather.

The Coffee with A Cop from February has been rescheduled to March 30th at McDonald's (1309 W 6th Street) from 9-11am. Hope to see you there!

Police Chief Gregory Burns Jr. has said getting to know community members is among priorities he has for LPD.

“We have to get out and do things like this in the community to establish that ongoing partnership,” he said in October, the month he started the job. “If you don’t do that, then the job of the police department won’t be complete, because we can’t do our job without the community.”
