A vehicle went airborne and rolled over early Thursday morning in western Lawrence, police said.

The crash happened about 4 a.m. in the 400 block of Folks Road, Officer Derrick Smith of the Lawrence Police Department said in a media email. He said the vehicle went off the road, hit a culvert embankment, became airborne and rolled over.

Emergency responders had to extract the driver from the vehicle and took the person to an area hospital for treatment, Smith said. Information on the extent of the person’s injuries was not immediately available.

Smith said police are investigating whether alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash.
