Man reportedly pulls knife on Replay employees; in separate incident, man arrested after alleged lewd act on 23rd Street

Here are a couple of reports about people allegedly behaving badly at Lawrence businesses on Thursday. Police said one man reportedly pulled a knife on employees at Replay, and in another case a man got belligerent after reportedly committing a lewd act at a business on 23rd Street.

In the first case, police responded just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday to 946 Massachusetts St., the Replay Lounge, for a report of a disturbance with weapons, police Sgt. Amy Rhoads said in an email. A man there had allegedly brandished a knife at employees, and when officers arrived they found him arguing with employees. Police cited the man for disorderly conduct and arrested him on an outstanding warrant.

According to the county jail booking log, the man arrested at Replay is a 45-year-old from Tecumseh.

About 5 p.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to a disturbance at a business in the 900 block of West 23rd Street. According to the police department’s daily media email from police Officer Derrick Smith, a man had exposed his genitals to a woman inside the business and made threats to her. Officers arrested the suspect, who became belligerent and uncooperative on the way to jail. He was booked for lewd and lascivious behavior as well as criminal trespassing. No one was physically injured.

The suspect from the 23rd Street incident is a 50-year-old Lawrence man, according to a jail log entry. According to the log, he was arrested over at 711 W. 23rd St., the shopping center southwest of 23rd and Louisiana streets.
