KU women’s basketball team snaps 10-game losing skid

The Kansas women’s basketball team made enough plays down the stretch to secure its first win since Jan. 30.

After clinging to a 2-point lead entering the fourth quarter, KU scored 21 points in the final period to finish off a 76-66 win over Oklahoma State Friday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena. With the win, the Jayhawks advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament.

Four different players finished with double figures for KU in the win. Senior Christalah Lyons led the Jayhawks with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Senior Kylee Kopatich also went 7-for-11 from the floor, finishing with 20 points. Freshman Aniya Thomas and senior Austin Richardson finished with 12 points and 11 points, respectively.

The win snapped KU’s 10-game losing streak, which began Feb. 3.

KU (13-17) will face Iowa State at 6 p.m. Saturday.
