Kansas golf in 2nd entering final round

Following a 10-shot improvement from round one to round two, the University of Kansas men’s golf team sits in second place going into the final round of the Badger Invitational at University Ridge Golf Course.

The Jayhawks carded a second-round score of 282 (-6) Monday, and trail Illinois State by two strokes.

“As a team, we were sharper today and played well from 1-5,” Kansas head coach Jamie Bermel said in a team release. “We are going to need to have the same effort and focus again on Tuesday.”

Senior Charlie Hillier is at 2 under (142) and is tied for seventh out of the 78 golfers competing. Sophomore Ben Sigel, meanwhile, is tied for 20th with a 146. Iowa State’s Lachlan Barker leads the field with a 7 under (137).

The final day of the Badger Invitational begins at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
