DIY prom hairdo, step 1: Start with moderately dirty hair

Step 3: Start braiding from your forehead hairline

Step 4: French braid the hair

Step 5: Continue with a French braid variation — add chunks of hair to only the top strand before crossing it over, and once you cross this top strand over the braid, you’ll completely drop it, letting it fall through the braid.

Step 6: Repeat the waterfall braiding of step 5 across the back of the head. Step 7: Finish by braiding normally.

Step 8, option A: Gather hair into a low, side ponytail and wrap the braid around the base of the ponytail.

Step 8, option B: Finish by pinning up the braid with a barrette and adding more curls.
