Social Service League offering free prom dresses Saturday

The annual Lawrence Social Service League prom dress giveaway will be Saturday at the Lawrence Public Library Auditorium.

Lynisha Thomas, Lawrence High School social worker and Social Service League board member, said the event will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for area middle and high school students and to the public at large from noon to 3 p.m. Those attending can select from more than 200 prom or formal dresses available in a wide variety of sizes and styles. The dresses are gently used or new with tags, she said.

The dresses are free for students, and nonstudents are asked to make a $5 donation per dress, Thomas said.
