— Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback's nomination for an ambassador's post has been resubmitted to the U.S. Senate.

The Kansas City Star reports that the White House said Monday that Brownback was one of dozens of officials to be renominated Monday by President Donald Trump.

Brownback was first nominated last July to become ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom but the nomination was opposed by Democrats and LGBT groups.

He is one of dozens of officials to be renominated by the president on Monday because they were not confirmed by the Senate after Democrats refused to allow their nominations to roll over into the new year.

It is not clear when a vote on Brownback's nomination will occur.

How humiliating! This guy is practically having to beg Trump for an appointment. He’s obviously a “nobody” on the national political scene. I wonder why? Justice !

Trump wants to "drain the swamp" alright. He continues to choose some of the worst people he can find. Brownback is a prime example. Pompeo was a lousy choice. Every damned one has been a poor choice. Trump has turned "The Swamp" into a sewer. I'm still waiting for him to start choosing people in prison because there is little difference between the inmates and those he has chosen.
