Area football roundup: Veritas football earns comeback win
Veritas Christian’s football team earned a 28-24 comeback road victory over Manhattan on Friday.
Quinton Donohoe highlighted the Eagles’ offense with 148 passing yards and two touchdowns, along with 81 rushing yards and a score. Trey Huslig added 87 receiving yards and a touchdown, along with 12 tackles. Grant Schuck caught the other passing touchdown.
Aaron Evans led Veritas’ defense with 14 tackles, helping the Eagles improve their record to 2-1.
“Super proud of our boys and the way they fought,” coach Rick Evans said.

Perry-Lecompton 59, Atchison County 14
Behind a powerful rushing attack from Tyler Erickson and Dalton Kellum, Perry-Lecompton’s football team rolled to a 59-14 home victory over Atchison County on Friday.
Erickson ran for 155 yards on 14 carries, while Kellum added 145 rushing yards.
The Kaws (3-0) will travel to Troy next week.

A strong first half lifted Baldwin High’s football team to a 20-12 victory over Ottawa on Friday at Liston Stadium.
Baldwin quarterback Luke Laskowski ran for three touchdowns, and the Bulldogs’ defense held Ottawa without a point in the first half.
The Bulldogs (2-1) will go on the road to play Spring Hill next week.
