Former Lawrence High left-hander Albert Minnis appeared in a major-league exhibition game for the first time Tuesday.

Minnis faced one batter, left-handed-hitting Steven Drew of the Washington Nationals and retired him on a groundball to second base for the third out of the sixth inning.

Minnis, 25, in his fifth season in the minor leagues, spent most of last season in Double A and finished it in Triple A. He likely will start this season at one of those levels.
