Baker football ranked No. 2 in preseason poll

After a run to the NAIA national title game last year, Baker University’s football team will open the 2017 season ranked No. 2 in the preseason NAIA coaches poll.

The Wildcats return senior quarterback Logan Brettell, who led the country in passing yards (5,073) and earned NAIA national player of the year honors.

Along with Brettell, Baker will be highlighted by running back Cornell Brown, receiver Clarence Clark and defensive lineman Josh Kock.

Last year, Baker finished with a 14-1 record, losing 38-17 in the national championship game to St. Francis (Ind.).

Baker opens the 2017 season against William Penn University on Aug. 26 at Liston Stadium.
