KU baseball tops WVU

Tanner Gragg’s leadofff home run in the seventh inning broke a 2-all tie, and Kansas’ baseball team defeated West Virginia, 7-2, on Sunday in Morgantown, W.Va.

The Jayhawks (14-17, 4-5 Big 12) tied a season-high with 15 hits against the Mountaineers (19-11, 6-3 Big 12).

“Gragg played really well today,” KU coach Ritch Price said. “He grinds and works hard every day and he has become an absolutely outstanding defensive player with a plus-arm. To see him be physical with the bat like that, I couldn’t be happier for him.”

Freshman starter Ryan Zeferjahn pitched 4 2/3 innings, and reliever Blake Weiman (1-0) pitched 3 1/3.

KU will host Wichita State at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
