On Monday, Douglas County Public Works closed East 1600 Road to through traffic a half-mile north of North 2000 Road to replace a large culvert.

The road in northeast Douglas County is expected to be closed through Dec. 9. Access to homes on the closed section of the road will be maintained.

The closure will limit access to the University of Kansas field station to the north from Jefferson County via a route of East 1500 Road, Stair Step Road, 13th Street and Wild Horse Road.
