Baker women’s soccer wins, BU men fall in NAIA tournament first round

? Junior midfielder Kady Dieringer scored in the third minute of overtime to lift the No. 13-seeded Baker women’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) in the first round of the NAIA tournament Saturday.

The Wildcats out-shot the Saints, 26-8, and had 18 shots on goal.

Rachel Hunt came up with three saves to record the shutout between the pipes for Baker.

Baker (15-3-3) advanced to the second round of the NAIA tournament for the second straight season, and will face No. 4 William Carey (Miss.) at 4 p.m. Nov. 28 in Orange Beach, Ala.

Baker men blanked by Midland, 2-0

The Baker men’s soccer team also out-shot its first-round opponent Saturday at Liston Stadium, but the Warriors of Midland (Neb.) made the most of their chances to defeat the No. 11-seeded Wildcats, 2-0.

Midland only recorded four shots to Baker’s 13, but Ali Sodal and Robert Wiseman were able to find the back of the net in the 38th and 86th minutes, respectively.

Baker ended the season with a record of 13-5-2.
