Douglas County Administrator Craig Weinaug is recovering in a Topeka hospital after a Wednesday morning bicycle accident.

Assistant County Administrator Sarah Plinsky said Weinaug was injured when he lost control of his bicycle on County Road 458 near Wakarusa Elementary School. Weinaug was taken by ambulance to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, where he was expected to remain overnight, she said.

Weinaug was wearing a helmet but did sustain a fracture, Plinsky said. She did not know how long it would be before Weinaug returns to work.
