As usual, Kansas University’s basketball team will have to wait until the first round of the Big 12 Tournament to find out its opponent for the quarterfinals.

The winners of 12 consecutive regular-season conference titles, the No. 1-ranked Jayhawks will face either Kansas State or Oklahoma State on Thursday afternoon (1:30 p.m., ESPN2) at Sprint Center, in Kansas City, Mo. The Wildcats and Cowboys open the conference tourney on Wednesday.

A win on Thursday would put KU in the Friday night semifinals (6 p.m., ESPN2) against the winner of Texas-Baylor.

On the other half of the bracket, Texas Tech and TCU square off Wednesday, with the winner advancing to face West Virginia in the quarterfinals.

The Big 12 might be saving the best game of the quarters for last, with Oklahoma and Iowa State playing the final Thursday night game.

Kansas last won the Big 12 Tournament in 2013. Iowa State beat KU each of the last two years in Kansas City. The Cyclones won in the title game in 2015, and in a semifinal in 2014.

The Jayhawks have won the tournament nine times since the inception of the Big 12.
