A boy was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries after a fire broke out in his home Tuesday afternoon, said a Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical official.

Division Chief Lyle Schwartz said the boy was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital after the fire at 1305 E. 25th Terrace.

Schwartz said he did not have details about the fire and that investigators were still on the scene.

A neighbor, Ashley Williams, said she had just pulled into her driveway when the boy, whom she believed to be a teenager, and his father came running out of the house.

The boy was holding his hand and crying, she said. Williams took him into her house and administered first aid.

No other details were available Tuesday.
