Baker golfer Mateer honored

Baker University senior women’s golfer Lindsey Mateer has been named a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-American, earning a spot on the College Division Women’s At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The at-large program for CoSIDA Academic All-America program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo, bowing, crew, field hockey, men’s volleyball and wrestling.

“The announcement of recent Baker University graduate Lindsey Mateer being named a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-American validates Lindsey’s quality of personal character, intellect, scholarship and athlete accomplishment’s,” Baker University men’s and women’s golf coach Karen Exon said.

“She exemplifies her teammates past and present, and her accomplishment speaks volumes for the personal, academic and athlete expectations of Baker, our athletics department and golf programs. I am pleased for Lindsey and so very proud of her.”

A native of Spring Hill, Mateer captured 13 Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week awards and helped lead Baker to three straight conference championships from 2013-15.
